We know that the basic performance of electronic connectors includes three categories, namely mechanical performance, electrical performance and environmental performance. The basic performance of the connector directly determines whether it can be used normally. Next, let's briefly understand these three properties.
1. Mechanical properties. The insertion force is a very important mechanical property in terms of the function of its connection. The insertion force includes the insertion force and the extraction force. Because the functions are different, the requirements of the two are also different. From the user's point of view, the insertion force is small, but the separation force should not be too small, so as not to affect the Contact reliability.
2. Electrical performance. Electrical properties include three major parts, namely insulation resistance, electrical strength and contact resistance.
Among them, the insulation resistance is an important indicator to measure the insulation performance between the contacts and between the contacts and the shell. The contact resistance is required to be low and stable. Generally ranging from a few milliohms to tens of milliohms. Electrical strength is also the ability of the connector to withstand the voltage.
3. Environmental performance. The more common environmental properties are temperature resistance, humidity resistance, salt spray resistance, vibration resistance and impact resistance. The temperature resistance temperature of most connectors is 200℃-65℃. Moisture has a great impact on the performance of the connector, which may lead to a decrease in insulation. Some good connectors can withstand moisture up to 90%~95%, or even 98%. Salt spray resistance means that when the connector is used in an environment with salt and moisture, its performance is not greatly affected. Generally, a salt spray test is required for 48 hours.
Vibration resistance and shock resistance are also very important properties of connectors, especially when used in special environments, this function is very important.
The three basic properties of electronic connectors are introduced here. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of use, we must purchase products with qualified performance.
